Mile Motivation: The Power of Chocolate Milk...

Every athlete has his or her own after-workout routine, but science has confirmed what elite athletes have known for years: chocolate milk helps you rebuild and recover after a tough workout.
Chocolate milk has the right mix of high-quality protein and carbs, plus other nutrients, scientifically shown to help refuel muscles so you can keep training hard and avoid burnouts.
  • Electrolytes: Electrolytes are salts and minerals that help your body maintain fluid balance and perform at its best. When you sweat, you lose electrolytes like sodium, calcium, potassium and magnesium.
  • Protein: Protein reduces muscle breakdown and stimulates growth. It also works with carbohydrates to help replenish the energy stores in your muscles.
  • Carbohydrates: Carbs are an athlete's preferred source of energy. After a long training run or
race your muscle glycogen (the back-up fuel storage in your muscles) is depleted.
Football legend Hines Ward has partnered with REFUEL | got chocolate milk? to launch BECOME ONE, a program that follows him and three other everyday athletes as they train for the 2013 IRONMAN(r) World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i.
